		<description>Salam mas Ulil,

So glad that u write blog, not just you have mengisi waktu luang and learn english, you have also enlight others.

To me, reading ur articles is more about understanding you, then understanding Islam. In the way that, the values you propose, almost all of them i agree. therefore i was a bit surprised.

Many Indonesians, recognize you as a horrifying figure- including me, before i started to read ur blog. We &#039;heard&#039; that you and JIL promoted liberal Islam, which means moslem is not obliged to do prayers, that all religions are acceptable and so on. and i am sure still many Indonesian thought that your values fall under personal or individual level. But i was wrong. i found that instead of liberal, u r more to libertarian, instead of plural, u are more to tolerant. ur values are reasonable.

It seems that i had successfully being directed to the misinterpretation of JIL. Or, JIL has also successfully being used for other Islam interpretation. Or is it you that have changed to be a bit more traditionalist while raising ur two children.

i do not know. However, i&#039;d like to sincerely ask apologize to you for misunderstood your values.

Nevertheless, having been in the traditionalist line, and still have very many good friends and family in that group, i don&#039;t forget yet how it felt to be in their shoes. Many of them, do not know and do not have idea about what they are saying, what they are thinking about. They were born and live in such values.

If you sincerely talking about putting ur feet on their shoes, u&#039;ll spend more energy to be patient and understand them; both the marginalized and the marginalizing people.

salam
